Internships

Oregon Literacy is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with interns who are tying community service into their career and learning goals. We are committed to offering substantive learning opportunities to all of our interns.

Our minimum requirement is a commitment of 15 hours a week [performed on at least 2 separate days at the Oregon Literacy office], for a minimum of 12 weeks. The specific duties of each intern depend on the time of year, the projects OLI is working on at the time, and the number of other interns volunteering at the same time. The internships are UNPAID. The first step in applying for this great opportunity is to fill out our on-line application form. In addition to the application, we also request the following materials:

  • Cover Letter
  • Current Resume
  • Three Writing Samples (these should either be related to the specific internship of your interest, or representative of several different writing styles)
  • Transcript (this can be official or unofficial)

These materials may be submitted via email to internships@oregonliteracy.org. Once we have received and reviewed your materials, we will contact you to schedule an interview, either via phone or at our office to discuss any open positions. Listed below are the current internships available. Browse through quotes and comments from past and current interns, or view samples of work completed by our interns.

If you have any questions regarding any aspects of the application process, please contact our Literacy Outreach Director, Emilia Gilroy-Sander at 503.244.3898 or via email at internships@oregonliteracy.org. Thank you for your interest in Oregon Literacy, Inc. We are looking forward to a great summer!.
