New Seasons Big Burrito Benefit
As part of the "New Seasons Big Burrito Benefit", Oregon Literacy, Inc. (OLI) was able to raise awareness and generate more than $1,700 over the course of one weekend.
On June 26th and 27th, 2004, volunteers from Oregon Literacy and Oregon Mentors descended on all four New Seasons Market locations - Raleigh Hills, Sellwood, Orenco Station and Concordia - for one of the markets regular "Benefit Barbecues".
The four stores were split evenly between OLI and Oregon Mentors. Oregon Literacy assumed responsibility for staffing the Concordia and Orenco Station stores.
"Rolling burritos for literacy, was a great way to start my internship at OLI," Tara Moore, Oregon Literacy Marketing Intern said.
New Seasons supplied the food, locations, paper products and staff support to make the event a success. The barbecues are a way that the chain is able to contribute to a variety of local nonprofits.
"If you are with the press and would like to cover Oregon Literacy in any
way, or would like to submit a story please contact Jon Toorock at
