Literacy Program at Clatsop Community College
Outreach
Literacy Program, which includes the Volunteer Literacy
Tutor (VLT) program, is part of the Adult Education
and Family Literacy Program at Clatsop Community College.
The
volunteer Literacy Tutor program works to recruit
volunteers to teach English to speakers of other languages.
Outreach also finds volunteer tutors for native English-speakers
with low skills in reading and math.

Outreach
Literacy was awarded a $15,000 grant (in partnership
with Warrenton Head Start) from Meyer Memorial Trust
to run a 30 week ESL/Parenting School, Family, Community
class.
Parents
will learn how to transition their children into
the public school system. The grant provides and
instructor, child care during the class and computers
to run English-language software.
The
class begins January 24th 2006!
