Chalk It Up for Literacy is a fun, family-friendly, annual celebration of literacy organized by Oregon Literacy, the oldest literacy program in the state serving those most in need.

Join us for our biggest and best event yet on Saturday August 9th, 2008 from 10 – 4 pm at Pioneer Courthouse Square in the heart of downtown Portland. 

Chalk It Up for Literacy features dozens of local artists creating literacy-themed chalk art on large matte boards for the public to see. In the past we have had many professional, award-winning artists involved with the event.  The one-of-a-kind art created at the event is for sale that day at Chalk It Up!

The focus of the event is on raising awareness of literacy issues and Oregon Literacy's mission to strengthen literacy programs, support volunteer tutors and empower learners to exercise their right to literacy.
