Pictured here is Louis Odono one of the directors of the Colombian program. The Center for Laubauch work was in the city of Medellin, near Yolombo. The Center brought together literacy teachers to write and publish literacy materials for the local people. They designed books, newsletters, and bulletins for those seeking help with practical, day-to-day subjects. This was not an English as a Second Language program. Tutors helped the Colombians by tutoring them in their native langauge, Spanish.

Factory workers from a sugar refinery in Yolombo, Colombia, learned to read through the Laubach Colombian program, CLEBA. Of primary concern to them was the fact that their children attended no school. Photo by C.J. Stadel 11/1977.
